CWB Event First in New Effort to Introduce New Seattle Residents to Local Non-Profits

July 15, 2013

A company that helps new Seattle residents meet people and find interesting things to do is expanding to also connect new comers with local non-profits they might like to help…such as The Center for Wooden Boats.

New2Seattle’s First “New2Nonprofits” gathering will be Monday evening, July 29th from 6pm to 9pm in the Gallery at The Center For Wooden Boats!

People interested in the event, which will also feature a Sushi and Saki paring class from Japonessa Sushi Cocina can find details and pricing for the event on the New2Seattle registration site.   Half of the funds from the tickets sales to the event will be donated to support The Center for Wooden Boats.

“Because we believe that water is such an integral part of living in Seattle, this evening on the water will introduce new people to the The Center for Wooden Boats with a walk on the docks and overview of the amazing work this organization is doing everyday,” said Theresa Stroisch, New2Seattle Co-Founder.

“And what could be more refreshing on a summer evening than drinking and eating sake and sushi?  Not to mention this food and drink is a part of the Seattle experience!”   We are even bringing in a sake expert to help us navigate the wonderful world of sake,” said Stroisch.

“Being welcoming and reaching out to help build community is one of the core missions of The Center for Wooden Boats, “said Dan Leach, CWB Community Engagement Lead. “When New2Seattle outlined how they wanted to help link non-profits with the thousands of new local residents moving to Seattle and the South Lake Union neighborhood it seemed like a perfect way to continue to reach out and build our network of supporters.”
